dns problem?

I am new to linux & I have just installed suse 9.1 onto a laptop which is also running windows. Connection to the internet and my home network is through a netgear router/ modem.

I can ping my other computer, the router and external addresses. I can even connect to the web in konqueror but only if I use ip addresses.

I assume this is a dns issue, but I don't know how to resolve it. I haven't had to explicitly define the dns in the router to get my windows installation to resolve names. This leads me to believe I have missed something when I configured the network card in Suse.

I have the primary/ secondary ip addresses of my dns. Where do I define it? Are there line commands to do this?

resolv.conf

The file you want is resolv.conf It's default location should be in /etc. Do a 'man resolv.conf' to check out it's format and options. If you have the DNS numbers, you can just a few lines to that file like so:

nameserver <DNS 1>
etc...
