DLink 524 router and VNC

Hi all.

I've got SSH open through my DL-524 router and can access it from outside the LAN. From the session I can then start a VNC server. I thought I'd opened the port in my router (5800 and 5900 just in case) but I've no luck with it. It lets me through via

> ssh username@my.home.ip.address

but it won't let me through at

> vncviewer my.home.ip.address:sessionNumber

and I can't think of how to get around that?

In the router I've got SSH turned ON with my.home.ip.address port 22

And I can access a VNC session across the LAN at 192.168.*.*

So what might I need to do in order to get VNC working? Thanks.

If you want to use the java vnc, you need ports based on 5800+display. If you want 'vncviewer', you need 5900+display. So, if you want to use display :1 with vncviewer, you need to forward port 5901.
