dialup problem


using redhat 7.3 with kde and kppp, ppp conection is established , i get a ip assigned by the isp and i can ping the isp dns and other servers but i cant ping to the rest of the internet why?
i cant ofcourse use licq or any webbrowser

have you set up your DNS server file? you need to put the IP address of your ISPs DNS server into the /etc/resolve.conf file so it looks like this
Code:
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
That shows two servers and linux will start at the top and work down until it finds one that works.

You might also want to check /etc/rc.config and see what:
Code:
modify_resolv_conf_dynamically=
is set to.
I use SuSE 7.3 and mine =yes

kppd set up my isp dns in resolv.conf, ill put it manually and check out the rc.config

guys its working , thats really odd i just put the isp dns in my resolv.conf and set up the isp gateway with the netconfig tool, what is ood is that i never had to do it before... thanks
