Develope website in PHP with Mambo: Apache?

Hi. I posted this on newbie section...

I'd like to develope my personal web page, using PHP, MySQL etc., using (a friend show me it) Mambo. I only know something about those *languages*, and HTML and a few Flash, but I don't know anything about server-client dialogue, asp, hosting etc.
My first question is: were can I learn theory about these arguments?

Well, in the town where I'm study engineering, and where I would like to develope my site, I haven't an internet connection, but I know that php need a server to run. I need a way to program it offline. Someone tells me I need an Apache local server. I think I installed it in Fedora Core 3.0, but I don't know:

1) What is it
2) How does it work
3) How I have to configure it properly
4) How to use it with Mambo

Naturally, I think no one wants to explain me all the theory about it (is there anybody... ? )... But if you can give me an hand, like a quick explanation or some documents to read, I'll pray for you every night...

Please, help me burning Microsoft Frontpage...

Thx

Nik

hmmm. I am not an expert, and my english is awful, but:

php is a server-side-interpreted language, this means that the server (the place where the page is, the host sever) reads the php and converts to html.

Apache is an http server (maybe THE ONE), U can configure apache to understand PHP.

In Ur fedora U can try

apachectl start

this works for me, then U open a browser and type:

http://localhost

And u should see Ur page.
