D-Link 604 router w/ DHCP

I have my D-Link 604 router set up as a DHCP Server to give ip to the LAN computers as follows.

The DI-604 can be setup as a DHCP Server to distribute IP addresses to the LAN network.
DHCP Server Enabled
Starting IP Address 192 . 168 . 0 .100
Ending IP Address 192 . 168 . 0 .199
Lease Time 1 week

Now in linux I've set up my network to use DHCP by using netconfig in slackware. When my computer boots it strats up the dhcp client and gets the gateway, netmask, and my computers IP of 192.168.0.100. Fine, no problem there.

However, the DHCP client refuses to get the DNS info. So I have to manually enter it into the resolv.conf file. And on next boot the DHCP client clears the resolv.conf file and puts no DNS info in there. So I manually enter it again. How can I get the DHCP client to talk to my DHCP server in my router and get the DNS info and put it in the resolv.conf file?

I could of course just write a boot scipt that writes the DNS info into resolv.conf file but then what is the point of the DHCP client? That is just stupid though. I might as well just use a static config while I'm at it and forgo the DHCP client altogether.

Right now I'm using a static config and it works just fine but I was wondering if there is a way to get the DHCP client to properly retrieve my DNS info and put it into the resolv.conf file automatically.

Note: I also have a windows xp computer on the lan and it gets all the info from the D-Link DHCP server just fine.

You could try these two commands

Code:
dhclient eth0
Code:
dhcpcd

Possible solution

I had the same problem, here is how I worked around it.
Edit your dhclient.conf file and add the following line
prepend domain-name-servers xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx;
where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of your prefered DNS
when the dhcp client starts, when you boot your computer that server will be added to your resolv.conf file.
Hope that helps.
Antiflash.
