Unhappy Creating username and password authenticated network connection

Hi guys,
This is my first post in this forum and I'm quiet new to Linux. I have a broadband internet connection which needs username and password authentication to get connected. In windows it was possible to create such a connection for my DSL modem but how do I do it in Linux. Please guide me through it.

Thanks

Welcome to LQ

I use rp-pppoe for my ADSL connection. You can download the sources from the site, but your distro probably already has a package for it. Setting it up is as easy as running (as root, in a terminal window) pppoe-setup and answering the questions.

Thanks for your quick reply. I'll try out what you said and get back soon. BTW I'm using RHEL 5.

Thanks

Thanks dude for that tip....I got connected.
Instead of pppoe-setup, i used adsl-setup and answered questions. pppoe-setup was not working for me here.
Thank you again.
