connecting samba thru XP is very slow

I have samba installed on FC4, have some win 98 machines & some winxp machines.
win 98 m/cs connect to samba server perfectly but win xp clients take too long to connect.
also win xp clents loose connection after some time & small files too take very long time to save.

....someone plz help....

Please post your smb.conf file so that we can see how you've got Samba configured.
