Configuring web interface with client router (Ubuntu)

I have a Netgear router (WGR614v7) configured as "client", with the purpose to pretend being a wired connection.
(Modem -> Client Router -*wannabe wired connection*> Ubuntu* Box)

The latest Ubuntu version, fetched something two days ago.

Anyways, probably I've overseen something very simple (my general experience with Linux basically equals zero), but. I just cannot seem to get the interface up. In the Network menu there's an interface called "auto eth0" and besides it is written "never". All settings are right, I'm sure, and the router works as intended (tested on Windows box).

So, uhm, please halp? :3
