Configuring Network Route in openSuse 11

I cannot figure out how to add a network route to an openSuse 11 system.

I have been able to add a single IP destination using Yast.

The network I want to add is:

Code:
169.254.0.0 * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
However, I don't know what to enter in the Gateway field of Yast's "Add Routes" dialog. It will not let me leave it blank.

I have also tried editing the /etc/sysconfig/network/routes file and adding:

169.254.0.0 - 255.255.0.0 eth1

But the route doesn't show up when I issue the route command.

Type in "man route", but without knowing the gateway to use, there's nothing else to be done.

The gateway is whatever address/interface that can 'see' the network you're trying to add. Let's say your eth1 interface can see that network, and has an address of 169.254.111.222:

route add -net 169.254.0.0 gw 169.254.111.222 (I think..confirm the syntax). There is also a switch so you can specify the interface, rather than the IP address.
