I installed RH 7.3, XFS and Samba. I want to change permissions (which are the same as at ntfs) at some directories and files from my WinXP-computer. Changing permissions on an existing user works, but I cannot add any further users in the permission-list. I tried it by typing in \\computername\user, user, ..... and used the search-tool in XP, but I do not find any users.

Where do Samba/WinXP looks for the users? Do I have to add any options in the smb.conf?

I would be very happy if anyone has a idea what I could try.

you might have to add the users within samba... use SWAT, from the XP box... it's not as elegant as XP's admin tools, but may be far less *labyrinthic* (is that a word? or just another cromulent word?)
