Can't ping URL

Hi folks,

My FC2 box can ping IP address but fails to ping URL.

This box was formerly connected to broadband via ADSL modem. Now the latter has been removed and changed to 56K modem.

Please advise where I have to check. TIA.

can you ping IP's? if so then you need to add name servers to /etc/resolv.conf

If you can ping an address but not a name address (line ping yahoo.com) that suggest to me that your DNS is not working.
Take a look at /etc/resolv.conf see it you have the address of your primary and secondary DNS servers there. If not add them.

Hope this helps
