Basics to networking SuSE 9.1 and Windows XP?

I have two computers. One has Windows XP and one had SuSE 9.1. I have a router and both computers are connected to it.

I want to network the two computers.

How do I do this?

You'll need to use Samba (SMB). Check here for starters:

http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/

When I last installed SuSE 9.1, I just made sure to install Samba, and it saw my Windows machine automatically, without any further configuring on my part.

Also, check page 108 of the SuSE 9.1 User Guide (Section 4.6.3) and page 384 of the Administration Guide (Section 16.1.1), if you have SuSE 9.1 Pro.

Good luck.
