I have a router with ddns service and the two providers who
are listed are both in China and there is no English on their
sites. My wireless router also provides this service which
is a new one on me.

Anyone, know of a US or UK ddns service provider?

I am trying to host my Mandrake based website on a dynamic ip, the
router states I must also turn of the dhcp of the computer hosting the site on the network.

Anyone, know how to turn the dhcp perhaps in the bootup in case of power outages?

I am running 64 bit Free 2007.

There are several ddns providers: two of them I use are:
www.dyndns.org
www.dyns.cx

As your router should provide dhcp services, you couldn't provide it also on your computer. If you are running dhcpd you should shutdown it.

As Mandrake is a Red Hat son, probably, the commands you should give to it are:You need to be root to run this commands; the first will stop the current running dhcpd; the last will prevent that dhcpd will be started on the next boot

I need a provider that points for anyone who has a domain name
this is a new service provided on my routers it is called ddns.
The router updates the remote dns server - I presume- whenever the dynamic ip is changed.

The ones you showed give you one of their names.


Anyone, know of this new service or can read chinease to checkit out?

-Most- of the Dynamic DNS providers offer a cross-platform "homing beacon" that you may install on your server. no-ip.com for example offers one of these. Most routers don't support many reasonable ddns providers.
