ADSL in RedHat 7.3??

I've got an ADSL-connection to the internet, and therefore I need to get the dhcpcd to work (I've checked with the ISP, and I should use dhcp, not pppoe). I've tried netconfig, but it doesn't seem to work. I've also tried just running the program, but with the same success. I got it to write a logfile for the errors, and this seems to be the error I get:
localhost dhcpcd[1116]:dhcpstart:ioctl STOCGIFHWADDR: no such device

What does this mean, and what do I have to do in order to get it working?

The dhcp client daemon (dhcpcd) attemps to contact the dhcp server on eth0 by default. This means that the eth0 network card in you machine should be connected to the dsl modem. If you have two network cards in your machine you may have to specify eth1 as a parameter to dhcpcd.

How is you modem connected to your machine?

It's connected throught the ethernet network card.

It works just fine in Windows XP, which is what I use right now on the same computer, but I can't get it to work using Linux.
