I bought a Mecer ADSL USB Modem. I want to know if it is possible to install this modem on a Redhat 9 system,and if i can use this as a gateway for my home network so that all PC's can access the internet through the gateway?WIll linux detect it and install it?
Redhat Hotplug manager should detect it, you will also have to configure ADSL in RH. Did you say that you wanted the RH system to be the gateway. If so make sure you are using usb 2 and have multiple ethernet cards installed on your redhat system.
its USB, it will depend if RH has installed your USB device on your system properly and if you need 3rd party drivers for that USB modem to work properly.
best to get a ethernet connection for your DSL modem anyways.
