Unhappy ADSL Connection

I installed SuSE 10.0 and tried to configure the internet connection.

My Modem is Alcaltel USB but it can be still be connected through the nic card (in fact in windows it works both ways).

In SuSe (through YAST) i added a network card (using module realtek) and set the IP address to 10.0.0.1 and the gateway to 255.255.255.0.

Then, I added a DSL provider using ETH0 (supposedly the nic card) and my user name and password.

Then I open KInternet to connect and it asks me for the password which i submit, but it does not connect, and in the log it says Exit : Error Code (2).

Any Help?

I've found that doing a fresh install of SuSE (version 9.1) is the easiest way to set up a Internet conection (I use ADSL too) because it basically detects automatically the conection. dial-up conections under Linux are virtually not existant, so don't bother with that if you have ADSL. Is the modem you're talking about dial-up or broadband? ...I'm somewhat confused with that cuss Linux detects networks easily (the fresh install should be a last choice but it may help if you're desperate).
