Activating Non active Network Devices.

Due to a botched dual boot, I've had to reinstall Fedora Core 10 (X86_64) onto my Toshiba Tecra M5 laptop. And all is well-except my internet. Neither my wired (integrated Intel) or wireless (integrated Intel and PCMCIA Netgear WPN 511 atheros card) are connecting. I know it's not my ISP or my router (I'm online on the same router as is my Fiancée a few feet over), so that leaves my dear old Tecra. Now it's important to note that I have installed this same Fedora version (from the same CD) twice before on the Tecra and it all worked right off the bat. So... I went hunting and found this; but got as far as my network configuration only to find that all my devices are INACTIVE! Now like I said, I have limited experience w/ fedora, but something tells me, this is most likely my problem.. but it creates a NEW problem (I love when life throws you curves): the logical "Activate" button is disabled... so with this in mind, how do I make them ACTIVE? any help is appreciated thanx

no response from #ifconfig eth0 up (that's good)
as for ifconfig eth0:
"Link encap:ethernet HWaddr [a hex set]
inet6 addr: [another hex set] Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RxpacewtsL0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TXpackets:6 errors:0 dropped"0 everruns:0 frame:0

RX bytes:0 (o.0b) TXbytes: 468 (468.0 b)
Memory: [yet another hex set]"

Is there a reason for the missing "inet" line that should between the Link and the inet6 lines?

Without the inet line you would appear to have no IPv4 address.

Here is what mine looks like.
Quote:
ifconfig eth0
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:1A:4DC:B9:E6
inet addr:192.168.1.125 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::21a:4dff:fedc:b9e6/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:6402 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:4172 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:2415292 (2.3 MB) TX bytes:611421 (597.0 KB)

I don't know much, but I would assume that the missing IP address would be from the network devices being inactive (thus not connecting to the router to RECEIVE an IP address in the first place.)

the result of that string is:
