Access to server not working


i just installed FC9 to day and every thing seams to be working but nothing can access the server FTP,http,smaba,etc

the fire wall is off and the server does respond to pings and i can also telnet into it but noithing else.

even computers on my local network can not access the server it is like it is just not there

Umm, silly question ... but did you start the services/daemons that you are expecting to connect to (ie FTP, Samba, Apache ...)

What's the IP of the server, the other computers on the network, how's it hooked together?

Are you sure the firewall is off? Try "iptables -L" as root.

Are you sure those services are running? Try "netstat -nalp | grep :80" for example.

Can't be too silly - we both thought it.

You said you can telnet into it -- can you telnet into the ports you talked about before (FTP, http, et cetera)? If not, what is the error? What do the logs in /var/log/ have to say about your attempts?

thank you all i found it for some reason it had it had to setups for the network and i only have one network card one was dhcp and the other was my fixed address 172.16.192.101, FTP and apache and smaba where useing the dchp one i got rid of the 2nd setup and every thing works fine
