[ssh] start processes

This probably has been asked before, but I didn't find it with the search (or google).

I connect with a linux server through ssh. From time to time I have to start very large processes, which could take days, or even weeks to complete. The problem is the process terminates when I close my shell, even if I use the ampersand (&) after the command, so I get my prompt back. I want to start a process and kill my terminal without killing the process.

The solution is probably really easy, but I can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance !!
