restore from backup

hi, my wife broke her nexus 5 (cracked screen) so I bought her a new nexus 5.
i installed clockwork mod recovery on the old one and ran a nandroid backup; I would like to take the backup from the old (which has CyanogenMod) and restore to the new which i opened today.

Maybe look at "adb backup" so you can dump the output file to your host PC - plenty of controls. The "adb restore" to the new phone.

Note: I've only just modded my first device, so may be out in left field (still). Didn't bother with a backup in my case.

i just went about the long way of re-flashing cyanogenmod and replacing files 1-by-1. i wish there was some clever dd method like restoring a lost usb drive from an iso image ?
