Problem while compiling Android 2.3 on Fedora 20

Hello,

Was learning how to compile android 2.3 form source. The problem is that i run a fedora 20, with gcc-4.8. Apparently, android 2.3 requires gcc 4.4 to compile (4.8 is stricter).

So i googled around and found that people run multiple versions of gcc for such purposes. So i decided to build gcc-4.4.7 from source (because gcc 4.4 is not present in the yum repos anymore).

Here i encountered another problem. gcc-4.4 requries texinfo version < 5. Trying to install this was also full of errors.

My main aim is to compile the android 2.3. So is there any way i can get that done on my system?

(please let me know if i have to post any outputs. trying to make all these packages i am kind of lost in the outputs )

Thanks.

Why are you trying to install such an old version of Android? Most of it has been seriously modified between now and then 2.3.

Anyway, what I would do if I was in your shoes is search for the GCC 4.4 RPM outside of the YUM repos and 1-click install it manually.

Quick google dug up this page, where you can download it:
http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2htm....php?query=gcc

well if you are going to use fedora
LIVE WITH IT

fedora is a very fast passed development OS that uses the newest of the new

port the software to use a VERY VERY NEW version of gcc and well EVERYTHING
or do not use fedora

your choice

also BE AWARE!!!!
Fedora 20 is about to GO END OF LIFE!!
in less than 60 days there will NEVER be any more support for fedora 20

so very soon
R.I.P. fedora 20

you might want to install Fedora 21 ASAP
but 21 is using a EVEN NEWER version of gcc than 20 is

now
You can install a few different versions of gcc ( fedora DOSE NOT !!! have them in the repos)
so you have to build 4.4 from the source code
and build the program as " gcc-4.4 " so that is dose not overwrite the DEFAULT install of gcc

then
point "alternitaves" to the older gcc to build the almost ancient android2.3
( seriously use THE CURRENT!!! version
and have a look at
http://www.cyanogenmod.org/

then point it BACK to the default - THE OS MUST be able to use the default version
-- a MUST --

2.3 is very out of date
Android 5.0, Lollipop
https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

^^ Yeah or you can just not follow the distro upgrades at every cycle. I run EOL distros all the time.
Often you need to change the package manager to an archive (I don't know about fedora)
