Hello, all.

I recently was trying to compile software on my (rooted) Lollipop tablet, and I've come across an issue I've never seen before. When I go to compile it (as root), I go through the normal procedure of extracting the source, but then get "Permission denied" when trying to execute ./configure. Tried setting the permissions of the files in the directory to execute, but that had no effect. All I can think is that the filesystem of /sdcard is FAT and doesn't support UNIX permissions...but then the permissions would be 777, wouldn't they?

The exact same package (pv) compiles just fine on Fedora 21 and Ubuntu 14.10. And again, on the tablet, I am root, just in case I wasn't clear.

Could use some help here, thanks in advance.

1. You don't need to be root to compile software. In fact, you shouldn't be root to do that.
2. It is indeed the FAT file system, it doesn't support UNIX file permissions, so you shouldn't be able to do that.
