I recently replaced my old motherboard with a new MSI G31TM-P21. I am having problems loading the live CD or DVD of Mint 10 (have tried both 32/64 bit and have verified the md5). During bootup of the computer it will start reading the dvd or cd, and just before the usual Mint boot screen, my screen goes black (except for a little greenish yellow mark close to the top right corner, and stops reading the disc. This never happened when using my old motherboard. I have tried other distros to see if they will boot, and they do, with no problems. It is just mint 10 that is doing this.

Is there some reason that it would be doing this? If so, how can I correct it?

I want to try loading from a usb stick, but for some reason, I can't get the motherboard to boot from a usb device.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having an even worse problem. I cannot boot from any of the live distros. Machine specs are: Core i7 870, Asus P7P55D-E Pro, 2x2GB Corsair Dominator 2000Mhz, XFX Geforce GT240, 3x250GB WD HDD in RAID 0, 2x1.5TB in RAID 1.

The DVD or CD will start loading and then after scrolls of text it states that it couldn't handle something or other, then says rebooting in 30 seconds...

I will provide more information regarding what specific error message i get with each specific distro. I may even take photos...
