xorg screen res not being set properly with Xorg 6.9.0

I have a Gateway MX3225 laptop which has an S3 UniChrome Pro video card and a 1280x768 widescreen monitor. When I edit the xorg.conf and add in the default depth of 24 and mode of 1280x768, which is the resolution of my laptop's screen, it loads 1280x1024. When I add 1024x768 it displays at that resolution but is all skewed. It seems that xorg is ignoring the resolution that I placed in xorg.conf. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what could be causing xorg to be ignoring the Modes directive and displaying an improper resolution.

Fixed the Resolution Issue

I assume that Xorg does not display 1280x768 as a standard resolution because I added the following to the monitor section of my xorg.conf and now everything displays properly.

ModeLine "1280x768" 87.04 1280 1376 1488 1800 768 771 777 806
