I have a work laptop that sits on my desk, I do not take it home. I was using dual monitors under windows until recently, but due to bloat I blew slowness away windows and installed Debian Lenny on it, then installed XP in a VM. On a side note I find it funny that XP seems to run quicker in a VM on this laptop than when it was running on bare metal.

Seriously though my issue is that I would like to run dual monitors again. I have searched for days and tried numerous configs. Most of the documentation has been for the i810 driver though and with the newer xorg and and intel driver for the graphics chipset the config file has been drastically reduced and almost all of the configs I used went belly up and the X server just wouldn't start. Finally I did get the virtual size to sort of work, except that the screen resolution on the laptop is 1280x800 and the monitor is 1280x1024 and the screen on the laptop had everything in the last 224 pixels cut off. So that would not do, using grandr it showed the resolution of the laptop screen to be 1280x800 and that it was set to that, but it was actually thinking is was 1280x1024. So then I played some more. Keeping the virtual width to 1280 and making the virtual height 1824 I was able to make them one on top of the other, however, that really was confusing the heck out of me. I really would like to get them side by side, does anyone have any ideas how, or know how I can do it?
