I installed Redhat 8.0 in my new Inspiron 6000 with integrated Intel i915GM Graphic card. I have download and install the latest driver from
dri.freedesktop.org/snapshots/
(dri.freedesktop.org/snapshots/i915-20050628-linux.i386.tar.bz2)
I manually modify the file /etc/X11/XFree86 to set the display resolution as 1280x800, it works, but only 16bit color depth. And the driver is still the default one: VEAS.
How can I change the driver to the one I install and how to get the 24bit color depth? (I need 24bit depth because some EDA software can only work under this setting).
Thanks.
