wireless is not working


Hi All
I have installed OLE 6.2 on my hp 620 laptop and I want to connect to internet via wifi, after i pressed the button to start wifi like in windows but no action , the device is not even detected!
i run the lspci command to list the devices I have and it gives:

I don't know how to register my wifi card
how can I fix this??

Not familiar with OLE 6.2, what distro is that?

It's worth checking the wifi card is really activated via

OLE 6.2 is oracle linux enterprise 6.2

Have you checked to make sure the button or switch that turns on your wireless is on. I had this issue, didn't even realize the switch was there for three months.

the switch button is on but no result, I have installed drivers from the repository but the issue persist
I the Wifi card isn't even registered i issue the ifconfig command and shows:

Since that only lists Bluetooth I think you're right: the wireless card isn't registering. And yet it's there in your lspci output:

What is this button? Is it a slider switch? And was it on or off when you did the installation?

Not sure what DE you are using, but there may be an application "Additional Drivers" or "Hardware Drivers" under the System menu. Run that and see if proprietary drivers are available for your card.

I don't think the driver for this device is included in kernels before the 3.0 kernels, either upgrade to one of the newer 3.* kernels or compile and install driver,
