USB>RS232 versus PCMCIA>RS232

Hi!

I want to put a RS232 on my Acer laptop to connect an external modem (USR V.92) under Slackware 10.1

What is the best choice:

Buy a USB>RS232

or

a PCMCIA>RS232

?

Does't your Laptop have a serial (RS232) port already? If not then bypass the middle-man and just get an USB or PCMCIA modem...

USB versus PCMCIA modem

Very good idea, Kencaz.

No, the new breed of Acer laptop come without a RS232 port.

It has an integrated modem, though, which should be a winmodem (horror!)

So the same question stays the same (and I want a hardware modem, not a winmodem):

What is the best?

A PCMCIA

or

an USB modem (Slackware 10.1)

?
