Ubuntu Palm Synch Setup Guide

Is there a guide to setting up a Palm Zire for Ubuntu (7.10)? I've seen one posted here for Suse that was written in 2004. It's quite good, but my directory structure is a bit different. Although there appears to be set up all the directories and files under /etc/udev, and these reference synching with a Palm device.

I have tried to synch a bunch of different ways, but to no avail. I have visor loaded in the kernel and it appears under /etc/udev files are set up to synch the old way with ttyUSB.

I would love a pointer to try to solve this.

Some Ubuntu guides for Palm syncing are here;

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ho...esearch=Titles

I've always found syncing my Palm (both an E2 and a TX) a bit hit and miss, but others have found it painless. I guess YMMV.

Generally, you can use gpilot to sync your contacts to Evolution or kpilot if you're using Kmail. Jpilot exists as a stand alone GUI syncing program.

Which ever you choose, I'd also recommed using Pilot-Link Pilot Link once in a while to back up the whole Palm. While it's a command line tool I've found it more reliable than the GUI ones (you're best off turning gpilot/kpilot off when you use it).

All of these should be available in Ubuntu's package manager.
