Ubuntu on R52 ibm laptop


I tried installing ubuntu on R52 ibm laptop
after reboot when I set screen resolution to 1024x 786
no display

make sure you got the right driver. I suppose you are using GMA900, ubuntu doesn't support the video card well. Did you try ubuntu 5.10? use live cd first and see if it will work for video card. You can always use VESA driver, however you have to generate the proper mode line for display. Here is an online tool to generate mode line (I made unbutu work on my friend's laptop which also has GMA 900):

I think you are using Intel 2200 wireless, it is a solved issue. Look here and read the reply:
