When the login screen comes up, hit ctrl+alt+F2 to switch to a terminal.
Do the following:
Login as the normal user, and sudo to root.
Type and follow the following commands. Don't type anything between the pound signs.

ps aux| grep bin | grep dm
## The number here is the display manager##
kill <display process number>
apt-get <or the similar command> -y install chkrootkit
##Let it install##
chkrootkit -<options>
##Let it run##
apt-get update <display manager> <Xorg>
##Let it run##
apt-get upgrade
##Let it run##
exit
Reboot.
