suspend fails: can't freeze threads

Hi all,

I have an Asus Eee PC (1001 HA) on which I have Fedora 14 installed. For the most part it runs just fine.

However, on a frequent basis I encounter problems trying to suspend or hibernate this netbook. It tries to go to sleep, but then wakes up again. I see something like this in the console:
Code:
Freezing of tasks failed after 20.00 seconds (1 tasks refusing to freeze):
How does one determine which thread (or threads) is blocking suspend? I try closing various applications, but that doesn't help and obviously negates the benefits of using suspend or hibernate.

Kernel version: 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.i686

Thanks for any ideas.

From $SRC/Documentation/power/basic-pm-debugging.txt
Quote:
If the "freezer" test fails, there is a task that cannot be frozen (in that case
it usually is possible to identify the offending task by analysing the output of
dmesg obtained after the failing test). Failure at this level usually means
that there is a problem with the tasks freezer subsystem that should be
reported.

Thanks, that was useful.

It appears frequently but not always to be gnome-settings-daemon which is refusing to freeze.
