Exclamation strange login problem!!

im running PClinuxOs on my LG laptop... i used to be on MDV and Suse before... after a long marathon searching for the reason why i lose sound on my laptop...i discovered by coincidence that sometimes when i log into my user i log in as [dottori@dhcppc2 ~]$ and on other times i log in as [dottori@localhost ]$
i dont know how or why that happens.... it happens even in a random way... sometimes after restart or after shutdown then log in again...
it doesnt have any rules but when i see myself in console logged in as [dottori@dhcppc2 ~]$ i dont have sound on my laptop but when im logged on as [dottori@localhost ]$ i have the sound working fine!!
i discovered that when once i tried to run kmail and got an error message thats its already running on localhost!!!
i dont know whats this but it happens randomly without a pattern that i can recognize... but whats more strange is that it happens also when i run pcl from livecd or even when i tried to run mandriva or suse livecd to try!!! and also when i have myself logged in localhost sound works fine but not on the other login...
does anyone have any clue what this mean??? and how to overcome it??
coz also i discovered that when im on [dottori@dhcppc2 ~]$ the ksysguard shows that the system load is so high and the system memory is fully used even im not running any programs and that im using about 500 MRam from my 512 plus some of the swap even i dont have any real programs working!!!
anyone??
btw i dont have any extra network packages installed just the samba share which comes by default...

Sounds odd... I would make sure that all the hostname files are correct:
PClinuxOS has scripts that prevent you from changing some files manually (there are ways) but it's easier to use the gui's to do this in the other network properties of the configuration utility.

Basically the /etc/hosts file needs to be correct...also it should mention your hostname in the
/etc/sysconfig/network file and the /proc/sys/kernel/hostname file.
