The output of lsmod looks correct. That means that the modules necessary for your sound card are loaded.
Did you remember to unmute the sound?
Run alsamixer from command line to unmute the various channels and increase the volume.

How this command is used? Please tell me step by step.Or simply can i run this command as:- #alsamixer Enter.
Before trying anything else follow the instructions here (C.4.8)
If you want to use alsamixer, then you should run it as root from the command line. Once you see the various channels, you use "M" to unmute them and the up=arrow to increase the volume. Exit the program (use Esc) and test. If it works, then run:

The fact that the virtual consoles are not working is most likely due to a misconfiguration of your keyboard in xorg.conf. Could you post the relevant part here?
I don't think that compiling a newer kernel will solve your problem. If you insist to do so, you can find useful posts either here at LQ or by googling.

I am attaching the screenshot of alsamixer command.Pressing M switch of the headphone and pressing up arrow increases the numerical only value of sound but it doesn't make sound.

Can you hear sound from the speakers? Are these the only devices you see in alsamixer?
From the attached screenshot it seems that your headphones are still muted (see the MM at the bottom).
Press "M" until it unmutes (become green OO).

Sir, I want to compile the kernel 2.6.18 to linux-2.6.28.Could you tell me step by step how can i do this.
Before starting compiling a new kernel, you might get the latest alsa drivers, libraries and utilities and see if it can solve your problem.
If you insist compiling a new kernel use google to find a good tutorial.
Just keep in mind that redhat does not support custom kernels
