snd-intel8x0 and Fedora C3 tinny noise

I have just installed Fedora Core 3 on my Inspiron 8600 laptop and the sound was working out of the box. The only problem though is that when I play an ogg file that has a singer with a high-pitched voice it seems to come out staticy. Everything also seems to sound tinny. I've had this problem before with all the other distros I've tried but never could figure it out. Please someone help.

You might change some volume levels for master and pcm. One might be overstressing and causing distortion. Use something like aumix, xaumix, alsamixer, or others. Might have bass and treble settings also. Also if using XMMS then you might be able to limit the the high limit by changing the levels in the equalizer section.

Thanks brian! Changing that PCM level did the trick. I didn't even known what that was anyway. Thanks again!
