Hello and Welcome to LinuxQuestions,

The internet has a lot of documentation regarding clusters. It all comes down to what you want to try. I do a lot of testing with clusters and always do this in a virtual environment, Proxmox, VirtualBox, VMWare, ... Here are some links I use. If you want more specific answers then please be more specific in your questions.

Linux HA
Pacemaker / Corosync / HeartBeat
Resource agents
IBM DRBD
DRBD

Hope it helps. Have fun with Linux.

Kind regards,

Eric

Hello,

Just read the links I posted before. There really isn't that much difference between a 'real' machine and a virtual one when it comes to installation and configuration of software. Why would you think that you have to treat a virtual machine different? Just create a second virtual machine, install your OS in it and start creating your cluster. What do you want to cluster? Block devices, file systems, configure High Availability with virtual IP, Load Balancing, .... You name it, there are very little limits to what you can do when you put your mind to it. One thing you will not find here at LQ, however, is step by step guides or howtos. Those are available on the Internet in abundant numbers. Have a look at http://www.howtoforge.com/ for example. When you follow a guide/howto and cannot get it to work or get errors you cannot solve, that's when you turn to LinuxQuestions.

Kind regards,

Eric
