problems with integrated wireless on laptop

I recently installed mandrake 9.2 on my compaq 2195 that I just got from Best Buy. Everything works except for the wireless card. Before I got this laptop I had a Toshiba and the wireless worked fineon it. I've already searched the forums and it seems that because the card is a broadcom, theres no linux support for it. The only way this card will work under linux is with Linuxant (www.linuxant.com) which I would have to pay for? I think thats a big inconvenience. If anyone knows any other ways or if this is the only way I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I suggest that you have a look to
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ndiswrapper/

It do the same stuff as Linuxant, but is made of GPL code !

thanks, I'm going to try that program out as soon as I get off my desktop. I appreciate the feedback. I figured there had to be a free program out there somewhere. I was also trying to play some games under linux and one of my friends reccomended WineX. I was pretty upset that 2 programs that I needed in a row were charging. I felt like I was using windows again. Thanks again
