Problem with Puppy live-cd after a windows crash

Hi there,

I`m Chris from germany and I have problems booting the Puppy-live CD. Short hint before we start: My laptop (Windows Vista) crashed, I just cant start windows, I`m always lead right into the recovery menu of fujitsu siemens (load a security point=loss of personal data). My RAM is 2GB, the laptop is one year old. Well, from my friend Mr. Google I heard that you can save the data by using a linux derivate and using for example an USB-Stick (to save the data later).

I downloaded the up to date version of puppy (must be 6.2), but it doesnt start as it should... I tried some commands in the boot menu but they didnt solve the problem.

I always get:

"Searching for puppy files in computer disk drives... puppy 431.sfs not found. Dropping out to initial-ramdisk console. Puppy can't access tty: job control turned off...."

Can anybody help me pls. I have to save the data!!

Thx guys

Your Puppy isn't the latest (4.13) - I was able to salvage a Vista drive using this release. You could also try Damn Small Linux.
