Question not enough mem workaround

Hey all,

Lets start off by says that I'm the king of "low cost" computing. That means that everything I have was given to me, and I have no $ to buy more things

So, I got this laptop from a friend: p133, 16 megs ram. I've ran redhat on boxes like this in the past, but I always needed to take the disk out and put it in another box to do the install, because I didn't have enough ram to do it. (The redhat installer wants 32: that's crap, I've ran it fine with 16)

However, this time, the box is a laptop, and I don't have a laptop disk converter. I also can't hack the instlal script because they're compressed on the install floppy.

SO, does anyone know of a good linux distro the doesn't check memory in the install, and allows package installation through the network?

Thanks,

-Jack C

What if I tod you, you CAN install Red Hat. Check out this site http://www.rule-project.org/ . They make a Red Hat installer that can be run on as little as 12MB RAM. I'm working on downloading Red Hat 9 to try it out on my VectorLinux Laptop (see signature). It also works fo Red Hat 8. I haven't tried it yet though so here are some suggestions for Linux Distros that will run.

VectorLinux
Slackware
Debian
