Unhappy No Wireless on my HP Laptop

I recently installed from DVD193, Ubuntu 14.10 onto my HP Pavillion Laptop. it worked fine. I wanted to dual boot it with Mint 17, but once installed, there was no wireless from Linux Mint. It would work on LANC, but showed no hubs or any sign of wireless reception at all. I rebooted the laptop from the original installation, and it worked fine showing all the wireless connections available. I re-ran the installation DVD in my laptop alongisde the original installation, as if I was testing for the first time. It wokred normally, except there was no wireless again. This was the SAME DVD that I used for the original installation, working along side it! The DVD produces wireless if I test drive it in any other computer. By some fluke the wireless works with the original installation only. I'm reluctant to remove the original, and start from scratch in case it doesn't activate wireless again, and I will be stuffed! No other distros that i've tried, activate wireless on the Pavillion. This has not been a problem in the past. Any ideas please?

Find your wireless device with the commands:

lspci
and
lsusb

Get their chipset, names, model and such from above output.

In your original installation find the kernel module used for the wireless device by:

lsmod

Do some web search. Or post your find here so we can help.

To find out what WiFi card you have run this command:
Code:
lspci | grep -i network
You probably just need to install the driver for your WiFi card or the driver for your chipset and than your wireless connection should work.
