Angry No PCMCIA Driver in /proc/devices??? [SOLVED]

Hi there,

I'm using PCLinuxOS on my Laptop (custom build) and am trying to get Wireless networking going properly.

When running from the LiveCD all is well and I can get ndiswrapper to work fine, but once installed to the HDD it all goes wrong.

The Control Centre doesn't see my Wireless NIC but does see my PCMCIA card using the yenta_socket module.

When I run cardmgr or cardctl status I get the error "no pcmcia driver in /proc/devices"

I think this is the reason I can't get the card working.

Having compared the differences between /proc/devices when running from LiveCD and HDD, there are only two small differences there.

Under Character devices with the LiveCD I have:

Code:
1 mem
4 /dev/vc/0
4 tty
4 ttyS
5 /dev/tty
5 /dev/ptmx
7 vcs
10 misc
13 input
14 sound
21 sg
29 fb
81 video4linux
116 alsa
128 ptm
136 pts
180 usb
188 ttyUSB
254 pcmcia
But when running from HDD the last two are missing. I have tried adding them but am told the file cannot be modified, even as root.

What can I do to get this working? I really need wireless access on my laptop!

Any help would be great...

10x...

I had a similar problem and I ended up just doing a "/etc/rc.d/rc.M restart" and that somehow got my pcmcia wireless working.
