No CD boot - how to boot from another networked laptop?

I bought a 2nd Actius MM20 as backup on ebay for cheap. Well, you get what you pay for. CD drives work fine once windoz is up but cannot be recognized by, or hang, the machine upon boot.

Selecting boot by LAN is another bios option. Could someone please describe a procedure by which I might boot off of the first laptop, connected via an ethernet cable? For instance, is it just a matter of configuring an FTP server and storing an iso file with a special name?

Thanks,
Charles
