GRUB: How to boot WinXP (NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM & BOOT.INI) from boot partition (EXT2) ?

Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to boot Windows XP from my hda1 EXT2 boot Partition?
GRUB is stored on EXT2 (hda1)

The Windows XP boot files have to be stored on the hda1 (which is the EXT2 boot partition, this also is the place where GRUB is installed). GRUB has to boot XP with the information of the files stored on /dev/hda1 , where the XP boot files also are (NTLDR, BOOT.INI, NTDETECT.COM).

So GRUB won't need to obtain the boot information from /dev/hda2 which is usually stored on the Windows XP partition in order to boot it.

hda1 EXT2 128 MB
hda2 NTFS 15 GB

Is this possible to do? If so, how can I do this?

Grub cannot boot the Windows OS, and needs to chain boot to the Windows bootloader to allow you to boot (this is why you may see one screen on which you choose "Windows" or the like, followed by a list of WHAT windows Install you want to boot) So I doubt that what you propose is not feasible (at least from how I understand it.)
