linux mint 18 on hp Pavillon dv2000 display problem


Installed Mint 18 on a HP dv2000 laptop, it boots but the welcome screen shows up in three and more sections. It did the same when installing other linux versions ! Comments would be welcomed, thank you

mint 18.1 Serena, Cinamon more than 4 screens appearing, I would like only one so that I could use Serena ! 29 august 2018

Could be a GPU issue:- (guessing not sure) Would need more info. and specs:- ie: lspci.

Do you mean that the Welcome Window Mgr. menu appears in sections (broken up)on the screen?
Or> do you mean that you have more than one instance of the Welcome Window Mgr open on the screen?

Thank you for your comment. Yes, thats is just it, It really looked like the video was not syncking ... plugged another monitor to the pbl and it just synced, now it is working ok.
