Knoppix boot-up hangs on Tecra8000

I have successfully booted Knoppix all the way the hell up from this exact same CD (I mean like PHYSICALLY the same disc, not just same image) on an old creaky Tecra 550CDT. Now here's my Tecra8000, which boots Win98 from hard disk, and it's given me this so far

============

Welcome to the KNOPPIX live Linux-on-CD!

Scanning for USB/Firewire decies...Done.
Enabling DMA acceleration for: hda [TOSHIBA MK4006MAV]
Enabling DMA acceleration for: hdb [CD-224E-B]
Accessing KNOPPIX CDROM at /dev/scd0...
Total memory found: 256064 kB
Creating /ramdisk (dynamic size=199084k) on shared memory...Done.
Creating directories and symlinks on ramdisk...Done.
Starting init process.
INIT: version 2.78-knoppix booting
Running Linux Kernel 2.4.26.
Processor 0 is Pentium II (Deschutes) 233MHz, 512 KB Cache
ACPI Bios found, activating modules: ac battery button fan processor thermal
============

And it's been stopped there for like twenty minutes already. Is something wrong, or does it really take this long? I don't remember the 550CDT taking this long to boot from the CD.

The knoppix CD is too _OLD_. The kernel looks like 2.4.26 as shown above. Download a newer CD from http://www.knoppix.org/ and burn it and try.

Knoppix on Tecra 8000

I've successfully used Knoppix 3.3 on my Tecra 8000, looks like similar setup to yours. Maybe you need a newer Knoppix CD. However, I couldn't get my modem or soundcard to work on Knoppix, and couldn't get the Lexmark 1100 printer working. Maybe I need a newer version of Knoppix, too
