Installing linux on an ARM PDA

Hello everyone,

I have a palmOne Zire 71 PDA (144MHz ARM chip), and I'd like to install Linux on it. I was thinking of using Debian, given that they have an ARM distro available. Are there any good starting points for overwriting the Flash ROM with a Linux bootloader and kernel?

Thank you

Don't know much about Linux, but I do know something about PDAs. NEVER, EVER, EVER attempt to overwrite the FLASH ROM. If something goes wrong, which is bound to happen, your system becomes an extremely expensive paperweight. In other words, it is dead.

Linux on a Palm would be cool, though.

Just my $.02...

There is a project to port Linux to the Windows CE-based handhelds. It is at handhelds.org. I am not sure what's out there for Palm, though I know for a fact there are a couple efforts to get something going on the original Pilot PDA.

Thank you! I guess I'll have to upgrade to a WinCE PDA.
