Smile Installing GNUstep on Compaq Laptop

Hello, I don't know if this should be a newbie or laptop question, but here it is anyway. I am trying to install GNUstep on one of the partitions on my compaq laptop (hda7), the livecd works fine. Anyways, when in console I followed the instructions of text file on the livecd homepage for installs. It failed to install GNUstep, but I now have a basic Debian install on that partition. I edited Grub so I can boot into it if I choose, and it starts in console mode.

My question is how do I complete the GNUstep install from debian console on that partition? It's acting like I am in dependency hell right now when I try to install any gnustep software. Has anyone installed GNUstep on a separate partition on their hard drive? And if so can they give a little walkthrough here? Many thanks for anyone who can help ;-)
