Difficulties Compiling and Installing GNUstep

Hello. I'm trying to compile and install GNUstep on Slackware 9.1. I have all of the required libraries needed to install GNUstep, and I also have XFree86 4.3, but whenever I install the gnustep-back package (the backend for GNUstep), when I type
Code:
make
after typing
Code:
configure
, the installation always fail after the makefile compiles at GSStreamGState.m, and I end up with a bunch of error messages.

Here were my steps for installing and compiling the program.

1. I downloaded the gnustep-make, gnustep-base, gnustep-gui, and gnustep-back archives. Untar the .gz archives.
2. Then, I installed the gnustep-make folder first. I done that by typing:

Code:
./configure --prefix=/usr/GNUstep
make
make install
3. I ran the following bash script:

Code:
. /usr/GNUstep/System/Makefiles/GNUstep.sh
4. Then, I installed the gnustep-base folder. I done that by typing:

Code:
./configure
make
make install
5. I went to the /usr/GNUstep/System/Tools folder and ran this:
Code:
defaults write NSGlobalDomain "Local Time Zone" "America/Los_Angeles"
defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSLanguages "(English)"
The above lines set my time zone and my language (which are required in order to run GNUstep applications).

6. I then installed the gnustep-gui folder, by typing:

Code:
./configure
make
make install
7. Finally, I then attempted to install the gnustep-back folder, by typing:

Code:
./configure --enable-graphics=xlib --with-name=xlib
make
make install
This is when the problems begin. When I run
Code:
make
, after it gets to the GSStreamGState file, the makefile then displays a bunch of error messages and then returns to the shell prompt. I don't know what is happening, but without installing this file, I'm not able to install any GNUstep applications, since the backend is an important part of the installation. Am I doing anything wrong, and has anyone else had difficulty installing GNUstep. I'll appreciate all responses. Thanks.
