i need help with wireless in open suse10.3


hi all...
i need help with wireless in open suse10.3,iam using dell 1720 laptop..
i dont know why the wireless is not working...

i hope some one can help me

Run "sudo /sbin/lscpi -v" to determine the controller used.

That will determine which kernel module you need and whether you need to install firmware. Modprobing the correct kernel module will enable the device to be detected. You may need to install firmware for the wireless device to operate. Also install the wireless-tools package. Install the wpa_supplicant package as well.

Post the part of the lspci results for your wireless device. That is the first step.

Also make sure that the device itself isn't disabled, either in the BIOS, or the keyboard special function key. If it is, it may not appear at all to the kernel.

you mean if i use sudo /sbin/lscpi -v i get the version of wireless?

dear i did that command... but i didnt find anything about wireless when i run /sbin/lspci -v

Just ok,my computer have the same problem and my computer is CoreDuo inside and my distro is CentOs5 .When i followd the lspci -v ,is shows
this :
0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-PCI Card (rev 01)

Any more it's same vendor Dell and my mode is LATITUDE D520,i don't the displayed message meas for me ,and what the problem is so i can resove the problem.

in a word ,the display means what ?
