How to skip "Resume From Disk"?

I'm test running Mandrake 9.2 RC2 on my Toshiba Satellite 1800 series laptop.
I updated my kernel to 2.4.22.10mdk to get acpi working and it appears to be working fine (e.g. pressing power button initiates a shutdown process and works!)

But lid close initiates a "Suspend to Disk". The suspend completes fine. But during reboot into Linux, the machine locks up (no key-press response) at "Resume From Disk: cleaning up..."

Any ideas how I can by-pass this resume process? Even if I reboot after a forceful shutdown (holding down power for more than 4 seconds), it comes back to this stage and locks up.

I have no experience with these laptops, but isn't it possible to totally disable suspend to disk in the BIOS setup? Many laptops will let you choose if you want to suspend to disk when the lid is closed, or a number of other operations - do nothing (just turn off the screen light), shut down, etc.

I believe the feature you're referring to is called "Hibernate". This is a BIOS functionality as you described.

However, "Suspend To Disk" is an OS feature. It used to be possible only with a bunch of kernel patches but as of Mandrake 9.2 (RC2 I think) it appears to be built in. Unfortunately, my system locksup in the restore phase.

Having said all this... I think it might demand some BIOS feature that I may have turned off. Thanks for the clue/tip. I'll check on this and report back.
